UPDATE
Jabali now lives in an obscure town somewhere in
South India. Contact is kept only through sporadic e-mails and a phone number we
all are reluctant to use. His parents are now trying to bring him back into
civilization, but as wild as he is, it is a difficult choice for him.
INTRODUCTION
After living here for
eight years, Jabali has finally gone back to his home state of Andhra Pradesh.
Gone back to South India from whence he came. Although he is not here anymore,
he left engraved in all of us a stark reminder of himself. As a matter of fact,
some of Jabali's characteristics are still inherent amongst his friends (an
extremely disconcerting remark). His relentless arguments, zealously reticent
opinions, and rough determination will never be forgotten, but some things will
be, for example, his love of cricket, his sense of humor, etc. Why? Well all
these parts of his life seemed trivial because they were overshadowed by a long
love acquiring struggle, constant arguing, studying strife, social problems,
etc. Here is an introduction excerpt which gives us an example of Jabali's
thoughts. This excerpt is not meant to bash or degrade anyone, it is meant to
shine a light on an obvious problem that we will never forget.

Jabali was a man of simple tastes, yet there was something about him
that made him a complicated being. He lived through his hypocrisy and
endured the pain of living with his problems but fell short of
correcting any of them. |

HISTORY
 |
Jabali fancied a life of ease
and sometimes he tended to be lazy, especially when it came to school
work. That could possibly explain his average marks. Maybe if he'd tried
harder, things would have been a lot different. Jabali would obviously
argue that he tried as hard as he could, but I don't want to provoke any
other arguments. Jabali lived in Memphis where he first encountered
a guy named Anubhav (Pictured below). Jabali's father's job took him to
the suburbs of Chicago and coincidentally so did Anubhav's dad's job.
From then on, a new relationship was born that did not break till the
last day of Jabali's leaving or we might even say
"separating". |

 |
His
junior high life in Kennedy brought him a variety of other friends like
Jason, Jon, Nick Kirk (a former enemy), the Two testicles (not shown),
and his love....Linda (not shown). To this day he yearns for her
acceptance and he did get some a day before he left as he visited her
house for the first and final time. His high school career brought him
new visions, friends, enemies, and reputations. |

Jabali has
lived with his brother all his life and treats him lower than one
would expect but he says he's not wrong in doing that. Here is a
collection of photos of some of his friends: |

STRUGGLES
|
LOVE
& RELATIONSHIPS
Out of the many
struggles that Jabali faced in the US, the most prominent would have to
be his lust for acceptance by the one and only (cough*not) one he liked.
Well at least we can say the only one out of the twenty he liked the
most. I cannot say the name of this person for privacy reasons, but most
of you already know who this CHINESE girl I speak of is. Jabali strove
to meet her in any hallway (like any other guy would do), even greet her
with flowers, but all was in vain because the relationship did not
progress beyond friendship. Many of these love struggles began sophomore
year and Junior year, but the one with the Chinese girl has lasted since
7th grade! Jabali's other relationships also failed miserably, but he
did not lose heart after they were over. |
FRIENDS
& FAMILY
Jabali had many
enemies, and many of them were that way not because they chose to be
that way, but because Jabali made them that way. Jabali demanding
nature, some annoying ways led to many allies with the enemies against
Jabali. Jabali was also very persistent, if certain things didn't go as
he pleased or someone wouldn't give him their homework, he would
relentless bark at them till what he wanted was done. That was probably
why he had many enemies. Most of the time, the behavior I mentioned
turned even his friends against him. Below is a list of problems he had
with other people. His problems never ceased and he concentrated on them
so much as to define his peers by how much they argue with him. Just
before his moving, many of his friends were fed up, but just the fact
that Jabali had made a significant impact on all of them kept them all
from feeling joyous at his departing. |
SCHOOL & SOCIAL
LIFE
Jabali struggled throughout his
high school career with an Average GPA. It also seemed like he did not
care very much about school, just when his grades came in. His refusal
to accept this system got him into too much trouble. He was by no means dumb, but his attitude and apathy
towards education and academic career professed his lack of skill. |
Below
is an away message we recorded a while ago:
um..this song isn't dedicated to any of the guys...yah..just makin' it clear cuz i've gotten some complaints.
i keep your picture by my bed so i can know you're in my head take my hand by your hand and i will always be your man you gotta trust in me like i would trust in you baby(
a girl's name ) close your eyes and my love will see you through...
|
Here
is a list of problems he had:
He...
...hated people who wouldn't let him copy their homework.
...hated people who would try to speak his language but did it wrong.
...sucked at defending in arguments, usually repeating swears that were
directed towards him. |
|
| ANANYA
Much more reticent and conservative than
his brother, Jabali, Ananya failed to make an impression on people.
He mostly kept to himself. Regardless, he was a fun person. His
brimming attitude and funny character brought smiles. Ironically, it
was only on their last day that we managed to take photographs of
this untamed beast. |
 |
They have undoubtedly changed us as friends
and people. Perhaps if they'd behaved and their parents had some sense,
they would still be here. Jabali would go to a college and Ananya would go
too, despite his complaints about how the system sucked. Jabali had always
complained that life in America was terrible, worst anyone could ever
live. He wanted to go to India and hoped to become the Governor of his
state. But alas, he found out that his perception of India had indeed been
a fallacy. In his e-mails, we could all read his troubles, his agony. I
have reproduced desensitized material from his e-mails below:

We can just hope that somehow Jabali still
has the chance to put his life back in control. He needs to be here and
NOW!
